Neutron Shielding
摘要
Neutron shielding in cement and concrete involves the enhancement of these materials to absorb and scatter neutrons, which are neutral particles emitted from nuclear reactions and certain radioactive materials. Neutron shielding is critical in environments where exposure to neutron radiation is a concern, such as in nuclear power plants, research reactors, and medical facilities. The incorporation of materials that have high neutron absorption capacity, such as boron, barium, and hydrogen-rich polymers, into concrete formulations, significantly increases their effectiveness as radiation shields.
