Electric arc furnace slag (EAFS) is a byproduct of the steel-making process where scrap metal is melted down in an electric arc furnace. EAFS primarily comprises various oxides including calcium, magnesium, aluminum, and silicon. The material is characterized by its durability, stability, and relatively high specific gravity, which make it a favorable addition in cement and concrete mixtures.
