Differential evolution (DE) is a stochastic, population-based optimization algorithm used in various engineering fields, including materials science and structural engineering, to optimize complex problems. In the context of cement and concrete, DE can be employed to optimize mix designs, curing processes, and the sustainability aspects of concrete structures under severe environmental conditions. By simulating numerous variables and their interactions, DE helps in identifying the most effective configurations that improve the performance and durability of concrete structures.
