π has many real-world uses; however, the digits of π beyond the first few decimal places are of value mainly in testing computer systems. Amazing history of π including wonderful series and approximations is given by Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, making it the first suitable for calculating π beyond the million marks. The methods of finding the value of π, including Archimedes method and π from probability, are explained. Apart from digit curiosities, π facts, coincidences, and peculiarities, the new concepts of π factorial and piorial primes are discussed in this chapter. Using π digits, the drawing of amazing shapes like triangles, rhombuses, hexagons, octagons, etc. is also demonstrated.

摘要

π has many real-world uses; however, the digits of π beyond the first few decimal places are of value mainly in testing computer systems.
