Comprehensive Metaverse Design Concept Using Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality
摘要
The metaverse is an evolving paradigm for the next-generation Internet, intended to provide 3D immersive experiences and self-sustaining virtual shared space by utilizing a wide range of relevant technologies such as AR, MR and VR in real-time applications. Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that enhances the real-world environment by superimposing digital content, such as graphics, sounds, or videos onto the user's view of the real world. It is described as a system that combines three fundamental elements: real-time interaction, realistic 3D registration of virtual and real objects, and a combination of the real and virtual worlds. By superimposing digital content onto the real world, augmented reality can create an immersive experience that enhances a user's perception of their surroundings. An immersive sense of a virtual world is provided to users by pose tracking and 3D near-eye displays used in virtual reality (VR). VR headsets or multi-projected environments can be used for entertainment, education, medical or military training, and businesses. It commonly includes auditory and video feedback, however, might also permit different forms of sensory and pressure inputs via haptic technology. Mixed reality (MR) is typically visible as “bridging the physical and digital world.” Mixed reality has many applications in the field of entertainment, from television shows to game consoles. This chapter describes the application of augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality as a precursor for the metaverse development. This work will help developers create useful tools for the metaverse environment. It also brings to light various challenges and opportunities for the metaverse design using AR, VR, and mixed reality.
