Sustainable Arts Education in the Post-Human Age: Models and Methodologies for Engaging with AI and One’s Humanness
摘要
Digital technology is developing at lightning speed. To date, the focus has been firmly on the economic benefits, while the social, ecological, and cultural dimensions have been largely ignored. Global media corporations set online standards that take hold in our daily lives and these standards often jeopardize social cohesion. Then it is difficult and costly to retrospectively regulate existing commercial standards, such as in the context of media and data protection. Here, arts education could play a key role through the early implementation of social and cultural dimensions in digital advances and the development of alternative strategies for human applications. But this presupposes that arts education also engages with digital developments at an early stage. In future, for the sake of sustainability, arts media education should not wait to see the negative impact on technological progress before developing pedagogical measures. Instead, arts education should familiarize itself with new technologies and the cultural dimensions of AI at an early stage in order to enable citizens to deal with AI in an emancipatory and creative way.
