Pedagogies of Hope in Times of Crises: Meanings of Arts Education Throughout the Lifespan
摘要
This chapter examines how interdisciplinary arts education can support the maintenance of individual and collective wellbeing throughout the lifespan and how pedagogies of hope can aid in developing more ethical, just, and sustainable cultures and societies. The chapter is composed of examples drawn from case studies from different disciplines of arts education. The arts specific pedagogical and research fields vary from music pedagogy to dance pedagogy and visual arts and media pedagogy; however, their collaborative practices are embedded in interdisciplinary arts, and they cross the boundaries of arts, humanities, and sciences. The chapter builds on the eight orientations of hope identified in 2019 as well as on Erik Allardt’s definition of wellbeing in An Updated Indicator System: Having, Loving, Being (1989).
