Aging is a global phenomenon and remains a profound and growing concern. With more than half of the world population living in urbanised areas, aging poses challenges to city planners, designers and managers to provide a range of age-friendly facilities to meet the rising demand among urban population who have contributed to the development and prosperity the cities represent today. The emergence of inclusive cities as a concept in the 2000s sets the stage for the discussion in this chapter, focusing on its evolutionary approach to address current needs in cities by prioritising changes in population demographics. The chapter further reveals the global scenario of aging in cities highlighting examples of good practices in Asia Pacific region within the frameworks of inclusive cities and conclude the chapter highlighting the importance of multidimensional approach to inclusiveness, age-ready urban planning, technological integration and community engagement and empowerment which must be geographical and cultural-sensitive.
