Digital technology promises to revolutionize healthcare delivery in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This chapter underscores how the effective use of digital health tools requires not only innovation, but also alignment with local needs, governance structures, and sustainable models of care in LMICs. LMICs face unique challenges in healthcare, including limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of skilled healthcare professionals. Case studies from Africa, Asia, and Latin America demonstrate how digital technologies have improved access, empowered users, and strengthened system efficiency when designed with contextual relevance. Effective implementation hinges on multisectoral collaboration, enabling policies, and the active involvement of community actors and healthcare workers. Promoting the appropriate use of digital technology involves addressing barriers such as digital literacy, data privacy concerns, and equity in access. Tailoring digital interventions to local contexts, considering cultural sensitivities, and ensuring affordability and sustainability are key principles for successful adoption. The chapter concludes that digital health can advance universal health coverage and system resilience if grounded in inclusive design, continuous evaluation, and strategic investment.
