Investigating, documenting, and comparing age-related differences within dialects is a critical channel for studing language microevolution. It provides insight into the historical evolution of phonology, lexical change, the emergence and disappearance of grammatical components and structures, and also provides empirical foundation for understanding language change and informing language planning.
