Currently available equipment for personal protection [i.e., personal protection equipment (PPE)] is not good enough to provide adequate protection during high-risk aerosol-generating procedures, especially during pandemics. We modified and prepared a full-face snorkel mask, used it as PPE, and evaluated its efficacy with respect to safety, comfort, vision, and communication with other team members during the surgical and endoscopic aerosol-generating procedures. Our modified mask provided a good seal, comfort, vision, and protection and seemed to be a good alternative to standard PPE. However, there is a scope for further improvement as it does have certain shortcomings which will be discussed in this chapter.
