The Architecture of High-Rise Buildings in a Coastal City: A Case Study in Nha Trang, Vietnam from an Ecoscaping Approach
摘要
High-rise buildings make a significant contribution to the city landscape. Architects try to achieve the appropriateness of function, comfort, and aesthetics of high-rise buildings in their design. At the same time, the appearance of these high-rise buildings must also contribute positively to the urban landscape. This paper aims to provide an ecological and urban landscape approach to studying high-rise buildings in Nha Trang, Vietnam, a coastal tourist city with a rich natural landscape and topography. To achieve this goal, the authors’ primary methods of analysis include the scientific observation method; we also analyze the architectural morphology of the 30 most essential high-rise buildings along the coast of Nha Trang. The authors then compare their characteristics with typical patterns of ecological architecture. From there, we hypothesize that applying and perfecting ecological architectural forms for high-rise buildings here to create a new architectural language that is the contemporary aesthetic may be more interesting than the current ones, contributing to improving the landscape quality for the coastal tourist city of Nha Trang.
