The word strategy originated from the military field. In Sun Tzu's Art of War,it is commonly known as “stratagem”, which is not only used in war, but also in political and diplomatic field. In the West, the English word “strategy” is derived from the Greek word “strategia”, meaning military generals and local administrators. The book Strategia, written in 580 AD by an anonymous author of the Byzantine Empire under the name of Emperor Maurice, means “the way between leaders and subordinates” or the art of command. It is therefore the strategy of war under the will of the commander.
