Pattern Design for Sand Casting Process of Anvil Subjected to DFM Considerations
摘要
Anvils are basically made by the sand casting process. An anvil is typically a metallic wedge that is used to shape other heated metallic materials through the application of continuous hammering forces. In general, the anvil is manufactured with wrought iron or cast iron. Furthermore, the anvil surface should be smooth, which allows the flow of material in the desired directions when subjected to hammering forces. The current study focused on the manufacturing criteria to fabricate a typical anvil using the sand casting process. The preparation of the anvil pattern subjected to various design for manufacturing criteria is discussed in detail.
