Childhood and Adolescent Disorders
摘要
Just like adults, children and adolescents too face mental health issues. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) imply exciting potential for its application in paediatric healthcare. This is especially true for early detection of developmental issues, like autism and intellectual disability, where timely intervention is critical. As availability of trained professionals is an issue globally; technology, particularly those which utilize AI has the potential to significantly enhance mental health services, acting as a workforce multiplier. The present chapter highlights the scope and implications of AI in childhood and adolescent disorders, with a specific highlight on diagnosis at early stages, cognitive training for attention-deficit hyperactive disorder, risk assessment of psychosis, and, most importantly, suicide risk. The chapter also highlights the ethical issues and challenges of using Ai in childhood and adolescent mental health care.
