The biometric authentication feature is researched through fingerprint sensors in the payment cards with regard to countering the payment card fraud rise, as payment card-present fraud losses reached a world total over $27.85 billion in 2023 and underlined a lack of confidence in current means of authentication. Performance evaluation through three performance dimensions, namely technical performance, user acceptance, and security effectiveness, is based on the experience of 180 users in six countries across supported transaction test results from 2,500 transactions. Achieved results: the rate of fraudulent transactions as compared to PIN authentication is at 99.4%, whereas a false rejection rate is minimal at 0.13%. The average rating from users for the use of biometric authentication was 4.8/5, with a strong preference for it above PIN authentication among 94%. Transaction times were reported to be 35% better than those generated in the use of PIN entry. With these results, fingerprint sensor cards are highly viable, enhance payment security, improve the user experience, and present a good case to drive adoption in the financial services sector.

摘要
