We wrap up our discussion on classification with a short chapter on performance evaluation. Some basic performance metrics, based on classification confusion matrices, will first be introduced. We then move on to the frequently used visual tools – the ROC curve and the precision-recall curve. Limitations of these tools are then discussed.
