Exposing Accessibility Gaps: An Evaluation of Saudi Arabia’s Leading HR Websites
摘要
This investigation of website accessibility purposively sampled 21 websites belonging to Saudi Arabian human resources companies of various sizes and serving diverse industry sectors. Evaluations were automated and used the following tools: SortSite, WAVE, aXe, and Accessibility Insights. The analysis focused on identifying accessibility errors on the English-language versions of the website homepages. The tools revealed a substantial number of errors, averaging 15.9 per homepage, with a lack of alternative image text being the most prevalent. Statistical analysis indicated the tools to differ significantly in error detection capabilities, highlighting the importance of using a combination of tools for comprehensive evaluation. The findings underscore the need for human resources companies in Saudi Arabia to prioritize web accessibility and address common errors to ensure inclusivity for job seekers with disabilities. Fulfilling this need will require integration of accessibility considerations into each stage of the development lifecycle and the regular performance of audits with multiple utilities.
