This book examines advancements in agricultural systems and climate change mitigation, emphasizing their importance for Egypt and other nations. It offers various designs of sustainable agroecological systems by emphasizing the use of diverse resources in agricultural production and presents innovations that improve the agroecosystem’s resilience to environmental stresses. Thus, the book intends to encompass five main divisions, each comprising many chapters, in addition to a chapter dedicated to conclusions and recommendations. The five primary divisions encompass innovative cropping systems for resilience, augment the soybean intercropping system with maize, untraditional approaches to maximize agricultural production, climate change impacts and mitigation, and machine learning use in crop production. This book’s expertise is beneficial for graduate students, researchers, policymakers, and extension workers. The objective of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ratified by all United Nations member states in 2015, is to attain peace and prosperity. It established 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve this objective. The SDGs emphasize the interrelations among the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable development. Goal 15 is focused on “protecting, restoring, and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, managing forests sustainably, combating desertification, halting and reversing land degradation, and preventing biodiversity loss.” Sustainability, central to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), necessitates the judicious use of soil and water resources as a critical milestone for preserving our agroecosystem for future generations and enhancing its resilience against climate change to ensure food production.

摘要

The SDGs emphasize the interrelations among the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable development.
