Hospital buildings are highly important systems and treat injured people during earthquakes. It is essential that their functionality is maintained during or recovered immediately after a disastrous earthquake. In order to evaluate the effects of earthquake on local hospital buildings, seismic damage investigation results from 2022 Luding earthquake are analysed. The typical characteristics of seismic damage observed are summarized. Based on the seismic damage analysis results, related suggestions are proposed for seismic protection and seismic resilient design of hospital buildings from the perspective of structural components, non-structural components and equipment.
