Aerodynamic Performance of Symmetric and Cambered Wings Under Ground and Ceiling Proximity
摘要
The aerodynamic performance of a finite wing is greatly influenced while operating in proximity to the ground and has been extensively researched and reported in the literature, popularly known as Wing-in-Ground (WIG) effect. The present work investigates the same; the influence of ceiling proximity is also studied. The performance of a symmetric wing is compared to that of the cambered wing having the same aspect ratio for the range of angles of attack and particular ground and ceiling clearances. Considerable enhancement in aerodynamic performance is observed in terms of lift coefficient with ceiling effect as compared to ground effect for both the symmetric and cambered wings.
