A method called isogeometric analysis (IGA) combines finite element analysis and computer-aided design (CAD) into a single, cohesive framework. IGA can be used to solve problems involving complex shapes due to its property of exact approximation of geometries. There has always been a demand for a preprocessor tool that is capable of generating analysis-suitable volumetric models directly from CAD software. This chapter discusses a pre-processing tool that can build these kinds of models by importing boundary-represented geometry from a CAD program named Rhinoceros 3D. The volumetric model thus generated can be used for analysis purposes.

摘要

A method called isogeometric analysis (IGA) combines finite element analysis and computer-aided design (CAD) into a single, cohesive framework. IGA can be used to solve problems involving complex shapes due to its property of exact approximation of geometries. There has always been a demand for a preprocessor tool that is capable of generating analysis-suitable volumetric models directly from CAD software. This chapter discusses a pre-processing tool that can build these kinds of models by importing boundary-represented geometry from a CAD program named Rhinoceros 3D. The volumetric model thus generated can be used for analysis purposes.
