Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) that show conservation across evolutionary lines and display specific expression patterns in tissues. They perform distinctive cellular roles and are promising biomarkers in therapeutic contexts. An ever-growing area of circRNA types and biological functions is closely related to recent advancements in sequencing technologies and bioinformatics tools. Practical uses of circRNAs have emerged in tandem with technical advancements, including their use as biomarkers for human disease. Therefore, to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases associated with circRNAs and to have greater knowledge of the biological processes involved in circRNAs, it is imperative to create algorithms for the precise and sensitive detection of circRNAs.
