Performance and Emissions Analysis of Shorea Robusta Biodiesel in CI Engines—An Evaluation of Green Fuel
摘要
This study investigates Shorea Robusta biodiesel (SRBD) as a sustainable diesel fuel alternative in direct injection diesel engines. The study investigates the impact of SRB-diesel blends from 10 to 100% biodiesel on CI engine emissions and performance to determine the best ratio for compression ignition engines. The 20% biodiesel blend (SRB20) performed best, balancing efficiency and emissions reduction. SRB20 increased specific energy usage by 2.3% compared to pure diesel, making it an efficient alternative. Despite this, SRB20 reduced brake thermal efficiency slightly. This blend considerably reduced CO, unburned hydrocarbons, and smoke emissions, which are crucial for decreasing diesel engine emissions. One trade-off was SRB20’s increased NOx emissions. While greater NOx emissions are a negative, SRB20’s better combustion and reduced contaminants make it a suitable alternative fuel. According to the detailed investigation, SRB20 is a balanced solution for diesel engines that improves performance and minimises hazardous emissions. This study shows that Shorea Robusta biodiesel may provide sustainable energy while retaining engine performance.
