Globally, Railways Can Do LTE Within a Limited Spectrum of 1.6 MHz × 2 and Support Video Applications with Massive MIMO Technology
摘要
This research paper proves that a high-speed LTE communication corridor can be created for railways within 1.6 MHz × 2 spectrum. This is depicted using a RF (Radio Frequency) dimension tool. The resultant throughput suffices requirements of evolving video applications. Also demonstrates a specific study-case of Indian Railways as an example which can be generalized across the world. Also recommends using 4 × 4 MIMO in current 1.6 MHz × 2 spectrum to enhance throughput and support video application demand. However, highlights the need for railway companies across the globe to secure 5 MHz spectrum, as 16 × 16 MIMO could be a new reality within that, supporting many more applications. It is heartening to note that Indian Railways has secured 5 MHz LTE spectrum and created two high-speed short distance corridors offlate, now, this can be expanded across India, is a good example for other countries to follow for Railway communication. Stresses on the sideline, also to go for a MORAN (Mobile Operator RAN) architecture to optimize the man and material efforts.
