Throughout Chinese history, there has been a longstanding tradition of valuing literature. Each era has nurtured talented individuals who excelled in various literature fields. Each dynasty has developed its own perfected and comprehensive literary forms. It is well known that ci (a type of lyric poetry) represents the pinnacle of literary achievement in the Song Dynasty. However, this does not overshadow the brilliance of Song poetry, and it is incorrect to claim that “ci triumphs while poetry perishes”. The achievements of Song poetry are, in fact, on par with those of Song ci.
