Understanding the Naturalistic Decision-Making (NDM) process in Aeronautics is crucial for preventing accidents, mitigating risks, and saving lives. This article reviews decision-making methods, particularly the naturalistic approach, using the Systematic Quantitative Literature Review (SQLR) to guide topic selection and the Narrative Literature (NL) to present the data. The aim is to understand the evolution of aviation decision-making and potential innovations. The analysis shows that NDM is an effective methodology for studying aeronautical decision-making. However, there is a limited range of references in this research area. Most studies emerged in the 80s and 90s, with a decline until 2013 when interest resurfaced. The article provides details on authors, publication locations, and research methods, with a focus on the United States and Europe. The article explores the motivations, benefits, and limitations of NDM in the aeronautical context, particularly in military activities. It also highlights future research directions. Understanding the potential of NDM in Aeronautics, especially in the military, is relevant for meeting the needs of armed forces and society, particularly in tactical missions and rescue operations.
