This article addresses operational communication in the context of Operational Integration (OI). From a perspective of technical and social transformations, this communication, and its consequences, are analyzed, before and after transferring the control room operator from the offshore to the onshore environment in the oil production industry in Brazil. Interaction flow heterogeneity is analyzed, highlighting the information exchanges of technological artifacts mediated and non-mediated relationships. This way, it aims to understand how intercomprehension in operational communicative was affected. The results suggest that the activities of control room operators, field operators, and supervisors have undergone significant changes, and new challenges can be identified in operational events, collaborative aspects, learning of tacit knowledge, and functional flexibility. In all these aspects, communicative interaction plays a central role in supporting offshore operations and maintenance, in both technologically mediated and not mediated relationships.
