Exploring Tacit Aspects of Work Activity Through Simulation: A Case Study in Forensic Packaging Design

This study explores the integration of work activity issues into forensic packaging design through simulation. The objective is to evaluate tacit aspects of work by using full-scale prototypes in simulated work environments. The method involves conducting simulations with forensic technicians performing typical tasks using the proposed packaging designs. Data were collected through audio and video recordings during these simulations. Results indicate that the proposed designs facilitated the execution of procedures and highlighted areas for improvement. The contributions of this research include demonstrating the importance of functional prototypes and user collaboration in design processes, and providing insights into how simulations can reveal tacit aspects of work that influence design effectiveness. This study underscores the value of simulations in ergonomic design, particularly for refining tools and processes based on real-world user interactions.
