Climate change and the rapid increase in the human population are the biggest challenges for agriculture production. Abiotic stresses adversely affect the agriculture production globally. They interfere with the developmental and metabolic processes of plants. In response to exposure to stress, plants have evolved several defensive mechanisms such as biochemical and metabolic reprogramming of plant cells to minimize the stress but up to a certain limit. In the present era, nanotechnology is gaining greater attention due to its promising approach to mitigating stress. Nanoparticles work as regulatory molecules to enhance stress tolerance in plants via several complex mechanisms such as modulation in antioxidant defense systems, phytohormones, and secondary metabolites. Moreover, the phytohormones are also termed signaling molecules that try to mitigate stress by several regulatory mechanisms. Recently, a few studies have been published that show either synergistic or antagonistic phytohormones cross-talk with the NP that regulates protective response to tolerate the abiotic stress.

摘要
