Smart Sanitary Pad Dispenser with Integrated Disposal System: Enhancing Menstrual Health Access in Rural and Low-Income Areas
摘要
Menstrual hygiene is a significant public health issue, particularly in under-served regions where access to sanitary products is limited. This paper presents an innovative sanitary napkin dispenser with an integrated disposal system designed to improve accessibility and promote sustainable hygiene management. The system comprises an automated dispenser and an incineration unit. The dispenser functions through a web-based platform utilizing Leaflet.js for real time geolocation and OTP authentication via Twilio, ensuring secure and efficient access via basic mobile devices while optimizing inventory management. Administrators can seamlessly add dispensers at any geographic location using latitude and longitude, thereby expanding coverage and accessibility. The disposal unit efficiently incinerates used napkins within nine minutes, significantly reducing waste accumulation and mitigating environmental pollution. A metallic exhaust pipe facilitates safe emissions management, ensuring compliance with eco-friendly disposal standards. This paper explores the integration of digital technology with sustainable waste management, incorporating remote monitoring, real-time user feedback, and automated maintenance alerts. Expansion strategies include deployments in educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and public infrastructures, supported by strategic partnerships with governmental agencies and NGOs to facilitate large-scale implementation. By addressing technological, environmental, and operational challenges, this paper advocates for the widespread adoption of this innovative system, ensuring consistent access to menstrual hygiene products, empowering women, and enhancing overall public health outcomes.
