The design of a compact metamaterial-loaded fidget ring-shaped patch antenna (FRSPA) for sub-6 GHz 5G NR has been presented in this article. The fidget ring-shaped microstrip planar antenna was designed to cover a wide frequency range of 3.42–4.13 GHz (710 MHz) and the n77 NR frequency band (3300–4200 MHz). Compare the suggested antenna with and without metamaterial and find that the latter shows improved bandwidth, reflection coefficient, and gain results. The antenna structure was designed using the cheapest FR-4 material, with 25 mm × 20 mm × 1.6 mm dimensions. The developed antenna has several advantages, including its very compact size, low profile, low cost, and simpler structure.
