This study presents a novel patch antenna which has orthogonal rectangular radiating element with swastika shaped stub and closed ring resonator that is specifically tailored for K band applications. The antenna is manufactured on a FR4 substrate, and its performance is verified using simulated data. The antenna operates at seven operating frequencies of 9.8, 13.8, 17.8, 21.6, 24.5, 26.8 and 28.8 GHz. It exhibits favourable reflection coefficients and noteworthy gain characteristics. Furthermore, it provides appropriate directional radiation patterns, making it very suitable for Ka, K and Ku band applications, hence improving overall performance in satellite communication systems.
