Antenna plays an important role in radiating and receiving electromagnetic waves in communication. The demand for antenna increases with the development of wireless communication. Based on the need, the antennas are generally designed to operate at a specific frequency band. Hence, numerous antennas are required for various applications, which increases the cost and complexity of the system. This led to the design of antenna that can adapt its performance based on users’ needs. This adaptive antenna is known as reconfigurable antennas. This paper examines various reconfigurable antennas designs in terms of frequency, polarization, and radiation pattern.

摘要

Antenna plays an important role in radiating and receiving electromagnetic waves in communication. The demand for antenna increases with the development of wireless communication. Based on the need, the antennas are generally designed to operate at a specific frequency band. Hence, numerous antennas are required for various applications, which increases the cost and complexity of the system. This led to the design of antenna that can adapt its performance based on users’ needs. This adaptive antenna is known as reconfigurable antennas. This paper examines various reconfigurable antennas designs in terms of frequency, polarization, and radiation pattern.
