Implications for Research
摘要
Referring back to previous chapters, the current chapter on research and methodology advocates a wider range of formats in which research might present itself, including film, sound and hybrid modes on the internet. Digitisation is discussed, and the role of contemporary academic research in taking forward relations between dance and poetry. Building on the rest of the book, the chapter also asks: what is the background of research at the interface of dance and poetry? Does interdisciplinarity over-complicate the studies in the field or over-simplify one discipline at the expense of the other? What place does physicality and embodiment have in research? What further questions needs to be asked and answered at the interface of choreography and prosody? Indeed, given digitisation, is there any further need for secondary symbolic notational systems like choreography and prosody? These latter questions raise interesting issues not only about dance and poetry themselves, but how they are researched and how that research is presented.
