Toying with Perspectives: Listening to the Views of Cultural Designers
摘要
In 1964, two Australian mineralogists—I. J. Bear and R. G. Thomas—published a paper on the fragrance of the parched earth after the first rains. The paper, titled “Nature of Argillaceous Odour,” coined the term petrichor (a metonym) from the Greek words petra (rock) and ichor (the blood of the gods). The mineralogists attempted to explain the formation of petrichor from spontaneous catalysis in controlled atmospheres or from the adsorption of compounds of petrichor. The paper was published in Nature—a highly acclaimed international journal that has disseminated the finest peer-reviewed research in science and technology since 1869.
