Care Givers and Patients with Drug Dependence
摘要
Doctors often have ethical issues in managing intoxication and withdrawal from diverse substances (including opioids, sedative-hypnotics, stimulants, and hallucinogens). Encountering drug-dependent patients is an inevitable aspect of contemporary medical practice. Individuals struggling with substance abuse cut across diverse demographics, encompassing various ages, genders, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Providing extended care for chemical dependency is a challenging and occasionally frustrating endeavour, yet it can also be a gratifying journey. The doctor must exercise heightened caution when interacting with patients experiencing withdrawal. Individuals in this state frequently express complaints of pain or anxiety, creating a perceived necessity for prescribing opiates or benzodiazepines.
