Introduction
摘要
While “Ageing” as a category is well researched in social sciences, rarely, it has received attention within media studies. However, the term “new media” has been emphasized by media scholars in terms of classifying it from the conventional old media. However, what it exactly meant requires qualification and interrogation. This chapter problematizes ageing in the context of communication research in India and tries to establish the significance of “usage” in terms of new media and the elderly population. Through a detailed analysis of available literature, this chapter aims to highlight the vulnerability of the ageing population and explore how social media use can open avenues for social interaction for elderly people.
