Forest Governance in Indonesia
摘要
This chapter focuses on the politics of environmental governance in Indonesia. It analyses the Indonesian government forest governance and its relationship with non-governmental organisations such as Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia or Indonesian Forum for Environment (WALHI) and Greenpeace. The Indonesian state rescale and reorganise its strategic engagement to limit Greenpeace interference by empowering its local and regional governments through decentralising regulatory statehood. At the international level, the Indonesian government inhibited WALHI from participating at global platforms over environmental issues. This strategic renewal effort of rescaling the state allows the Indonesian government to inhibit synergy between local, regional and global social forces while empowering the Indonesian state and capitalists to pursue its developmental goals intensively.
