This chapter focuses on the politics of environmental governance in Malaysia. It evaluates the Malaysian government strategic relations with Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO) on governing the environment. This chapter analyses the dynamic relationship between the Malaysian government and non-governmental organisations such as the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Malaysia). It therefore analyses the politics of scales and social conflict facing the Malaysian state and society over environmental and climate change issues where the Malaysian government consistently conduct a national level strategic renewal, enhances its regulatory statehood and rescale its calibrated efforts at domestic, regional and global levels in order to check civil society advancements.
