This chapter focuses on the politics of environmental governance in Singapore. It analyses the Singaporean government strategy in governing the environment and its dynamic relationship with non-governmental organisations such as Nature Society Singapore (NSS). This chapter therefore gives an analytical overview of the politics of scales and social conflict facing the Singaporean state and society over environmental and climate change issues. It argues that in order for the Singaporean state to continue its dominating development agenda in the global city-state, the Singaporean government consistently conduct a national level strategic renewal, enhances its regulatory statehood and rescale its calibrated efforts at domestic, regional and global levels in order to check civil society advancements.
