Collaborative Workspaces Enhancing Youth Employment in Rural Areas
摘要
In rural areas, collaborative spaces can improve local and regional sustainable development by enhancing access to digital technology for residents and businesses. In European rural areas, collaborative spaces have been established to retain talents, attract remote workers, train young people and non-employees (NEETs), support young start-ups and entrepreneurs, and offer mentoring to access public incentives and funding. These spaces can promote local entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems and act as a bridge between users and external actors. However, the literature on collaborative space networks aiming to enhance youth employment in rural areas is limited. This chapter aims to fill this gap by presenting and discussing the extent to which these networks aim to promote and support youth employment in rural areas with high NEETs levels. The chapter focuses on the following cases: (i) National Connected Hub Network in Ireland; (ii) Tiers-Lieux in France; (iii) FUNDECYT-PCTEX in Extremadura, Spain; (iv) National Network of Telework and Coworking Spaces in the Inland Territories in Portugal, (v) South Working in Italy.
