With the advancement of technology, gig work has emerged as a crucial segment of present workforce. It has become the contemporary domain of research for many researchers, academia, and policymakers. The significant transition of linear economy to circular economy has generated opportunities for both job creation and the skill development for gig workers. While the objective of the circular economy is to promote efficient use of resources and to discourage the waste and excessive demand of raw materials, the gig economy encourages sharing economy where workforce can facilitate their services on sharing basis and minimising the waste. This paradigm shift has necessitated to explore the intersection of gig work, skill requirement, and job creation with in circular economy. This chapter delves into the job opportunities and skill development for gig workers in circular economy. Furthermore, we aim to explicate the effective strategies required for uplifting the skills of current workforce. The chapter also highlights the challenges faced by the gig workers. We also discuss the social and practical implication of the study as well as future agenda of research. It also covers the role of government, policymakers, and industry leaders in empowering the gig workers to foster a sustainable environment within circular economy.
