Green Colouration Processes Targeting Sustainability
摘要
Conventional textile colouration processes are often harmful for the environment. Mainly because of the use of excess water, synthetic dyes, and toxic chemicals. These affect human health and aquatic life badly. Moreover, traditional dyeing processes consume high energy which contributes to carbon footprint of textile production. Increasing awareness among consumers and stricter environmental standards imposed by the regulatory bodies demand the use of sustainable eco-friendly colouration processes. Methods including digital printing, spray dyeing, low liquor ratio dyeing, supercritical fluid dyeing, biological colouration are investigated, developed, and used to implement more sustainable practices in textile industries. These methods show promising performance in reducing water and energy consumption, lowering the use of toxic chemicals, and minimizing negative impact on the environment.
