Mechanical Behavior of Compacted Sand-Clay Mixture with Various Remoulding Water Contents Under Unconfined Compression Condition
摘要
Sand-clay mixture was a widely used material for road subgrade. During the subgrade construction, sand-clay mixture was often compacted at various remoulding water contents, leading to the variations in soil fabric and thus compression strength. This work investigated the unconfined mechanical behavior of typical sand-clay mixture with 50% sand content under different remoulding water contents (14%, 16%, 20%, 25%, 28%, 30%, and 35%) at two compaction degrees (0.85 and 0.90). Results indicated that: 1) Regardless of remoulding water content, the stress-strain relationship exhibits strain softening behavior at each compaction degree; 2) The increment of remoulding water content led to a monotonic increase of sample ductility. In addition, when w = 14%–20%, it exhibited brittleness behavior. When w = 25%–35%, it exhibited ductility behavior. 3) With the increase of w value, the UCS value first increased and then decreased. There existed a w-cha value that divided the UCS variation into two parts.
