Introduction
摘要
Molecular and genetic profiling is now recognised as vital in managing diseases and patients in clinical settings. The potential of genomic medicine lies in utilising an individual’s genomic and molecular genetic information to customise treatments, stratify patients, and forecast drug responses, thus ensuring the administration of safer and more cost-effective therapies. In this regard, implementing strategies aimed at identifying disease-specific variations and understanding their implications for clinical practice, including the identification of probable treatment responders, and minimising adverse side effects through optimised drug dosing, would greatly benefit African populations. The following chapter provides an overview of the importance of spotlighting precision medicine and pharmacogenomics efforts on the continent, covering the scope and value of the contents of the e-book.
