Blockchain technology has emerged as a disruptive innovation with a potential to impact a lot of industries. This article provides an overview of the blockchain adoption and the current challenges, specifically investigated in the domain of logistics and transportation. Though the integration of blockchain offers benefits such as increased transparency, security, traceability, and sustainability in logistics operations, however, many challenges such as scalability and interoperability need to be addressed first to fully tap the benefits of this technology. Without these being addressed, blockchain deployments will find it difficult to graduate from proof-of-concepts projects to mainstream deployments.
