In this article, we provide an overview for the students enrolled in Computer Science specializations, in both subjects, Database Management Systems, and Web Programming, during one university year. Due to an anonymous survey, we performed an analysis related to their expectations, covered or not, the aspects they considered enjoyable and also challenging. The students’ expectations proved to be covered in a high percentage, while the enjoyable aspects were multiple in comparison to the challenging ones. The integration of databases into applications and the improvement of JavaScript technology were the expectations provided by students from both genders and lines of study. The applicability part and the human interaction represented the most enjoyable aspects to both subjects.
