Asia is the hub of urban growth in twenty-first century. Climate change and environmental stresses are the main push factors that aggravate rapid rural–urban migration in Asian cities. Rural poverty is shifting to cities and a large percentage of these poor live in informal settlements in low-lying and flood-prone areas on steep slopes, with limited or no access to basic services and viable livelihoods. For employment and livelihood urban poor depend of informal sectors. However, due to slum eviction, and eviction of informal markets and on-street business urban poor are in constant struggle to secure their basic rights. On the other hand, combating with urban challenges like growth of informal and illegal settlements, water scarcity, waste management, transportation, rapid reduction of green spaces and frequent disasters is the key concern of urban governance. This paper aims to highlight the Asian dilemma toward keeping cities livable with blue-green infrastructures by minimizing urban challenges.
