Research on Location Privacy Protection Methods in Vehicle Networking

Vehicles depend on Location-Based Services (LBS) during driving and must provide precise location data to Location Service Providers (LSP). Without proper protection, this information can easily be compromised, endangering users’ safety and assets. Current road network privacy protection methods typically use rectangular grid divisions, which may include irrelevant areas. To address this, we employ network Voronoi diagrams to partition road networks into independent Voronoi Cells, with cell sizes defined by area types for better alignment with actual conditions. Additionally, to avoid inaccuracies from traditional fuzzy region methods, we use a dummy location generation algorithm that safeguards vehicular users’ location privacy while maintaining service quality. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively safeguard users’ location privacy.
